Happy Earth Day!

I feel fortunate to have a short daily commute. It greatly reduces not only my stress, but also my daily contributions to the Earth’s greenhouse gasses. However, when I’m not walking to my office, I’m flying around the US—or to some other country around the globe—to meet with a client, deliver a speech, or facilitate a workshop.

In fact, as I write this, on Earth Day, I’m sitting at 35,000 as a Boeing 777 whisks me from San Francisco to Boston, where I’ll be speaking at the CX Next Conference this coming week.

Getting to connect with our clients and their customers face to face is a meaningful part of my job. And on a personal level, I love the opportunities that my travel affords me to meet new people and explore new places. But I also recognize the toll that this travel takes on our planet.

That’s why I’ve decided to donate 1% of our annual profits to environmental causes.

Yvon Chouinard, founder of The North Face and author of the book Let My People Go Surfing, founded 1% for the Planet in 2002 to help businesses, nonprofits, and individuals contribute to researched and approved environmental organizations. And I’m thrilled that Kerry Bodine & Co. is joining their ranks.

I’m proud of the work we do to create happier customers, happier employees, and happier shareholders. And now, I’m proud that we’re doing our part to create a happier planet.
